The Philosophy of Flumen

In a world of constant distraction, Flumen is built on the belief that true productivity comes from finding your rhythm and staying in flow. No clutter, no noise, just you and your work.

Always One Click Away

Lives in your menu bar, not in a browser tab or a separate window. Your timer is always accessible without breaking your flow.

Single-Task Focus

Our "Task Shelf" ensures you're always focused on exactly one goal at a time.

Private by Architecture

Your focus data never leaves your Mac. No accounts, no cloud sync, no telemetry. Privacy guaranteed by design, not just by policy.

The Pulse

Timer in your menu bar, nowhere else.

Mirror your focus directly in the macOS menu bar. The animated progress ring provides a smooth, analogue sweep — no need to switch apps or open a browser to check your timer.

Quick Start Guide

Experience high-fidelity focus in three simple steps.

1

Download

Grab the latest Universal Binary and move it to your Applications folder.

2

First Launch

Right-Click the app and select Open. macOS requires this one-time step for apps downloaded outside the App Store.

3

Approve

If prompted, open System Settings > Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. You only need to do this once.

Like any direct download, macOS asks you to approve the app once. After that, it launches normally. The source code is open on GitHub if you'd like to verify or build it yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it free forever?

Yes. Flumen is a labor of love for the community. The core features will always remain free and open source for personal use.

Where is my data stored?

Entirely on your Mac. Focus logs, tasks, and project data live in a local SQLite database. There are no accounts, no cloud sync, no analytics, and no telemetry. Your focus patterns are deeply personal — Flumen keeps them that way by design.

Can I export my data?

Absolutely. You can export your entire focus history to a CSV file at any time for your own analysis or backup.

Is it open source?

Yes, the code is available on GitHub under a Non-Commercial Share-Alike license. You are welcome to contribute or build it yourself.

Ready to find your flow?

Free, open source, and private by design. No accounts required.

Built by Saransh Barua

"I built Flumen because every Pomodoro app I tried was either bloated with features, ugly on macOS, or locked the basics behind a paywall. I wanted a timer that lives in the menu bar - not in a browser tab or a separate window -with my data stored locally, not on someone's cloud. I believe tools like this should be free and open source, especially in an era where anyone can build simple apps. So I made one I'd actually want to use, and gave it away."
